The Aspen Creek is a perfect Colorado cabin for a large family or group. Located near the Chalk Cliffs, the property is adjacent to the Chalk Creek.
The cabin is less than three miles from the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs. If you don't want to make the drive, enjoy the hot tub on the deck!!!
Aspen Creek has four bedrooms on the main level. There is a king in the master, and the other three have queen beds. Kids will like the sleeping loft with one Double and two twin beds. We even have a pack'nplay for the baby! The large kitchen opens to both the dining room and living room with floor to ceiling windows. And the huge family room gives you room to spread out for dining, games or relaxing.
The cabin has just been remodelled and features brand new bathrooms, new floors and beadboard wainscotting.
Outside, the cabin is nestled in beautiful aspen trees and has fabulous views. You can fish in the Chalk Creek just at the rear of the property and can hike to the Colorado Trail and the Agnes Vailles falls. Also close by is the trailhead for Mt. Princeton and the ghost town of St. Elmo.

This house is in a great location. The house was clean. Unfortunately, the house needs quite a few updates, especially at this price point. The beds were universally rated by all as being uncomfortable and extremely noisy. No one slept well due to the noise made with any slight movement. There is a long list of items that should be repaired or maintained. Some include a front screen door that sticks and feels that it might fall off its mounting, and wall patches and peeling/worn paint. Some lack of attention to detail includes a handwritten torn piece of paper indicating the password for the WIFI without any indication of the name of the network, a dvd player not connected to the tv, and the instruction to review procedures before operating the jacuzzi but no instructions to be found (we did not use the jacuzzi).
Dealing with VRBO, RedAwning, and a local manager is inefficient and frustrating. Be aware there are extra fees involved including cleaning and service fees. Approximately 2 weeks after the reservation was confirmed, I was informed there was an additional fee for a dog, even though it was advertised as allowing pets without mention of a fee.
A suggestion for improvement involves the difficulty sitting outside during this time of year. The mosquitoes were abundant and resulted in limited time outside day and night. A simple screened in area would have been a major improvement in our experience.
The impression that we left with was that this property used to be in much better shape but has suffered from lack of maintenance and attention that hopefully will be corrected in the future.
